  1. Step 1

    In a pot with oil, cook aromatics over medium heat until they are browned (2 min)

  2. Step 2

    Convert to a syrup consistency by reducing sugar, fish sauce, and soy (3-5 min)

  3. Step 3

    Add water and bring it to simmer

  4. Step 4

    Add the fish steaks, and simmer for about 20 minutes.

  • Catfish, salmon, swordfish, or scallops are the fish that this dish works best with.
  • The flavors intensify, savor, and taste even better the next day.
