The addition of red onion and garlic gives this traditional meatless Italian snack a delightful bite. As pre-dinner finger foods, these slices will serve four people, although portion sizes and ingredient proportions may differ based on the size of the baguette and individual preferences.
Combine tomatoes, onion, and basil in a medium bowl. Salt, balsamic vinegar, freshly ground black pepper, and olive oil can all be added. Stir thoroughly and reserve.
Slices of baguette should be baked at 350 degrees for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the bread is only lightly toasted
Add the tomato-onion mixture on top. If desired, sprinkle parmesan cheese over top.
