The addition of red onion and garlic gives this traditional meatless Italian snack a delightful bite. As pre-dinner finger foods, these slices will serve four people, although portion sizes and ingredient proportions may differ based on the size of the baguette and individual preferences.

  1. Step 1

    Combine tomatoes, onion, and basil in a medium bowl. Salt, balsamic vinegar, freshly ground black pepper, and olive oil can all be added. Stir thoroughly and reserve.

  2. Step 2

    Slices of baguette should be baked at 350 degrees for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the bread is only lightly toasted

  3. Step 3

    Add the tomato-onion mixture on top. If desired, sprinkle parmesan cheese over top.
