• One of the most renowned and successful Vietnamese chefs and the best culinary ambassador for his nation is the Iron Chef Michael Bao Huynh, a multiple award winner. Michael (Bao) Huynh has opened a surprising number of restaurants, each with a distinctive concept and a complex menu thanks to his intuitive and personal understanding of his local cuisine. Since the age of 11, Huynh has been making people happy by cooking in his mother's Saigon restaurant with her. At the age of 16, he fled the country alone to build the basis for his family's subsequent emigration. He spent his adolescent years in the Catskills, where he worked at the Italian eatery owned by his foster parents. Then Huynh started architecture school, and the modest East Village restaurant he constructed himself had enough customers to tempt him back behind the stove. In New York, Huynh is now a chef and restaurateur. He establishes a number of Vietnamese eateries, including OBao, Pho Sure, Bao Market restaurant, Bao 111, Mai House, and Barbao. He is the Culinary Institute of America's trainer in the interim. Mick Jagger, Usher, Rachel Weisz, Marcosp Rodriguez, Naomi Capbell, and Petra Nemcova frequently dine at his restaurant.
