• As the host of the Luke Nguyen television series, well-known Vietnamese-Australian chef Luke Nguyen is best recognized. In the cuisine documentary Luke Nguyen's Vietnam, he travels through Vietnam with his sous-chef son Bryan Nguyen while preparing meals on the fly like the country's street sellers, who typically do so on sidewalks. After it was a hit, he hosted another documentary about the French impact on Vietnamese food called Luke Nguyen's France. On the television program MasterChef Vietnam, Luke serves as a judge. Following his first two seasons, the 10-episode Luke Nguyen's United Kingdom premiered on May 14, 2015, with the episode set in London, where he and his brother Lewis explored the city's food markets. He investigates street food in Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta in his most recent series, Luke Nguyen's Street Food Asia, which has eight episodes and debuted on September 1, 2016. Luke is the proprietor of the Red Lantern eateries in Surry Hills, Sydney, and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the author of several cookbooks. He is also the creator of the Fat Noodle restaurant, which is located in the Treasury Casino in Brisbane and the Star Casino in Sydney. The Little Lantern Foundation, established in 2009 by Luke Nguyen and his then-partner Suzanna Boyd, offers underprivileged youngsters in Hoi An the chance to enroll in a hospitality training course in the Little Lantern's running hotel, restaurant, and bar. Luke has made numerous guest chef appearances on the reality food competition MasterChef Australia, including episodes 8 and 31 of seasons 2 and 8. Luke had an appearance on Who Do You Think You Are?, season 7, episode 3 of the SBS genealogy program, when he discovered his previously unidentified Hakka Chinese lineage via his maternal grandpa, an immigrant from Guangdong. Despite the fact that his mother had known about it for years, she had kept this information from Nguyen for an unidentified reason. The program also provided details of Nguyen's ancestors' participation in the Vietnam and Indochina Wars.
